Description robert spitzenpfeil 2023-08-13 18:36:26 UTC
For quite some time now I experience a lot of flicker or a no image condition on my laptops internal LCD. Without an external monitor it sometimes becomes useless.

Syslog:

>Aug 13 20:14:51 linux-1p8x kernel: i915 0000:00:02.0: [drm] HPD interrupt storm detected on connector eDP-1: switching from hotplug detection to polling
>Aug 13 20:14:53 linux-1p8x systemd[1]: systemd-rfkill.service: Deactivated successfully.
>Aug 13 20:14:54 linux-1p8x kernel: i915 0000:00:02.0: [drm] [transcoder EDP] PSR aux error
>Aug 13 20:14:54 linux-1p8x kernel: i915 0000:00:02.0: [drm] [transcoder EDP] PSR aux error

To me this sounds very similar to this:

Please advise.

Hm, the bug thread mentioned looks pretty old, and it should have been covered by the upstream.

Could you verify whether the problem persists with the recent upstream kernel in OBS Kernel:stable:Backport repo or not?
Comment 2 robert spitzenpfeil 2023-08-14 15:50:34 UTC
They appear to be all for Leap 15.4
Comment 3 Takashi Iwai 2023-08-14 15:53:40 UTC
The question is rather whether the 6.4.x kernel shows the problem when you install on the Leap system that showed the issue.
Comment 4 robert spitzenpfeil 2023-08-14 17:46:11 UTC
I don't run Leap.

Argh...

Sorry, I chose "Tumbelweed" for 'product' (correct) and Leap 15.5 for 'hardware' (wrong).

This is all for Tumbleweed.
Comment 5 robert spitzenpfeil 2023-08-14 17:46:43 UTC
Corrected.
Comment 6 robert spitzenpfeil 2023-08-14 17:48:30 UTC
I got a new kernel for TW today. I guess I'll report back if the issue stays.
Comment 7 Takashi Iwai 2023-08-14 18:02:03 UTC
If it's TW, check the 6.3.x kernel in TW history repo at first:
  http://download.opensuse.org/history/

Or you can try my older kernels in OBS, e.g. home:tiwai:kernel:6.2, home:tiwai:kernel:6.1, etc. The point is to know whether it's a regression or not.

OTOH, if you are sure that it's no regression but a long-standing problem, just report to the upstream. Go to gitlab.freedesktop.org, open an issue for DRM/Intel.
