imlib2 is till shipped in version 1.4 which lacks support (loaders) for webp and svg file format.

An update to a current version (1.12) would fix this easily.

Which distro? Tumbleweed has 1.12 but there we intentionally disable svg support as a security mitigation.

I'm running Leap 15.5, as indicated.

And due to the old imlib2 many applications (e.g. gwenview, feh) show neither .webp nor .svg files.

I wasn't aware that there has been a security issue with .svg files, but completely disabling the file format should be only a short term emergency solution ...
