laptop compaq presario b1013 :

first international sis900 pci fast ethernet rev90
configured with dhcp
siocsifflags : device or ressource busy
error : cannot enable interface eth0
error: interface eth0 is not up

i can only use ethernet with 10.0 beta4 , all others versions beta3 , final,
can't work correctly with my laptop

for me that looks like a kernel-problem, but perhaps there's more to it. 
Christian: I don't think that's a hotplug-problem, do you agree?

I need some more information: Is the kernel module loaded at all? Also please
submit the boot kernel messages as well. Btw, did you try a "failsafe" boot?
Btw, the media are already shipping, so this cannot be a BLOCKER!
