Description Ulrich Windl 2005-10-10 15:16:07 UTC
After update from 9.2 to 10.0, GPM did not start any more, because /dev/mouse is
absent. /dev/psaux still exists, but a manual symbolic link /dev/mouse ->
/dev/psaux vanishes after reboot.

Can you please attach the /var/log/YaST2 directory (as a tar file)?
Please take a look at http://www.opensuse.org/Bug_Reporting_FAQ#YaST
if you have any problems.

I don't know who or what removes your /dev/mouse link but this may
be a result of udev; as I said I don't know. the service gpm is no
longer configured automatically if you do a graphical installation.
This happened intentionally because people are complaining about the
mouse information shown for GPM in the proposal while installing.

So a simple call of

  yast mouse

will reconfigure your GPM to work correctly
