Description Linh Tran 2024-05-09 04:29:09 UTC
Hi,
After system is upgraded to Plasma6 at last month, I faced a problem: all additional monitors and laptop came to black screen and hanged at this point.
I use laptop HP Victus which have 1 HDMI port and 1 Type-C port, to add more 2 additional monitors.
Cases:
1. X11 session - Worked - Laptop + Monitor connected through Type C + Monitor connected through HDMI
2. Plasma 6 Wayland - Worked - Laptop + Monitor connected through Type C
3. Plasma 6 Wayland - Not Worked - Laptop + Monitor connected through Type C + Monitor connected through HDMI

So that I think that there is a problem with Plasma6 Wayland with HDMI port. Could you please check?
Thanks and Best Regards

What exactly hangs? Does VT switching still work? Can you upload the journal?

Hi,
I has just found the situation that made this problem. The following steps are what I had:
1. System hang when use HDMI with Plasma6 and Wayland, I change to X11 -> work
2. After few times update include kernel update -> work
3. Sytem update some additional packages -> not work
4. System update kernel and some packages -> work

After step 2 and step 4 happen many times, I found that The Gnome Application Platform package which is required by ProtonVPN (installation from flatpak) update -> system not work.
So that I have remove ProtonVPN and required Gnome Runtime Application -> system work.
I think may be Gnome Runtime in KDE cause the problem.
