Description Anthony Hughes 2024-07-12 18:45:59 UTC
I am unable to install OpenSUSE Aeon on my Lenovo T440p with Libreboot because the installer fails to detect a UEFI system. If this is a bug please let me know if I can provide more info. If it’s out of scope for Aeon then please let me know that too. For now I’m going back to Debian on this machine but I’d love to run Aeon on it someday. It’s my favourite distro and the default I try to install on all my machines, working great on two of my other (more modern) workstations.

Cheers!

So does libreboot not present as /sys/firmware/efi in Linux?

Hi Richard, thank you for the prompt reply. On Debian 12 currently, I do not have a /sys/firmware/efi folder so I assume not. Is there some other way to check?

If there is no /sys/firmware/efi then your system isn’t following the UEFI standard

Aeon only works on UEFI systems

Thanks again, Richard.

Looking further, Libreboot on this system is configured to use SeaBIOS which I do not think implements UEFI. I think that confirms I won't be able to run Aeon on this system in it's current configuration. I'll reach out to the Libreboot project for support on this. Feel free to close the bug report.
