This cannot possiblly be "critical" if it happens only in very rare cases -> downgrading severity From what media did you install? Shipped CDs from a SuSE Linux box? Or downloaded ISOs? If so, did you perform a media check during installation - or check the MD5-sums of all CDs? Also, please attach y2logs and the output of "hwinfo" - see also http://www.opensuse.org/Bug_Reporting_FAQ#I_reported_a_YaST2_bug.2C_and_now_I_am_asked_to_.22attach_y2logs.22._What_does_that_mean.2C_and_how_do_I_do_that.3F http://www.opensuse.org/Bug_Reporting_FAQ#I_reported_a_YaST2_bug.2C_and_now_I_am_asked_to_.22attach_hwinfo.22._What_does_that_mean.2C_and_how_do_I_do_that.3F I did the install from iso images. I did not see a checked media option during the installation. This is Suse 10.0. I am not 100% sure when the media check is enabled, so please perform a manual media check. In most cases like this, the media are simply defective - faulty download, faulty blank CD, CD writer writing errors. See also http://www.opensuse.org/Released_Version#Downloads http://www.opensuse.org/Download_Help#Checksums any news on this one? I am stillno able to get this to work. I downloaded iso 1 and verified the download with md5sum key matched. I started the installation and before I even put in cd 2 the media error is present. What do you recommend. Did you check the MD5SUM of the CD, or only the downloaded ISO?

Besides, this is really an issue for installation support, not a bug of the
installation. We'd have noticed in our hundreds and thousands of test
installations if that didn't work generally.
I did a md5sum on the iso. Should I do it for the cd also? |
