Description Volker Kuhlmann 2005-10-13 07:19:47 UTC
In various places (mailing lists, download area) for 10.0 box it is said that
all packages of CD 1 to 5 are contained on the installation DVD. This is not
true, the following packages are on the 5 CDs and are missing on the DVD:

It's a pity because there would have been space on the DVD.

May I suggest that you install some automated checking for the CDs and DVD
contents to check for this in the future?

Rudi: could you please comment on that?
Comment 2 Ruediger Oertel 2005-10-13 12:16:34 UTC
yes, some packages are missing on the DVD.
no, there would not have been space on the DVD.

DVD9: 8531703808
DVD9-max-size: 8539996160
leaves roughly 7.9 Mb.
yes, the missing "yast2-trans-cy" is a real bug,
the rest is intentional.

Oh sorry, I thought the capacity of a DL-DVD was 2x 4.7^6 bytes. Guess that is
why it's called a "8.5G"...
Comment 4 Ruediger Oertel 2005-10-14 00:29:44 UTC
well, it took a long time and many questions to get exact numbers.
what I have right now says for a DVD9 (aka. dual-layer-DVD):
8539996160 bytes (2084960 sectory of 2048 bytes on 2 layers)
