I have the same Problem, so I can´t use SUSE on my Machine. When I connect my Plextor PX-716SA (Serial-ATA!) I get always this error, when I disconnect the device from Mainboard, there´s no Problem. I hope this Infos will help. Winfried, can you try the kernel rpm from 10.1? Hi there, sorry for the delay, I was absent for several weeks. Back home, I was sick :-( I grabbed the SUSE-Linux-10.1-beta4 CDs - worked fine! To be precise: The installation did not hang as it did before - the problem seems to be SOLVED. But I stopped testing on seeing the installation suggestions (disk partitioning, package selection and so on). I did not do an actual installation because I this is a production machine. So I want to wait for the "beta" to disappear. Is this a problem for you? If so, I would install the beta release, do some tests, and boot my running 9.3 after that. Thanks! Kind regards, Winfried fixed in 10.1, installation runs fine |
I run into problems trying to install SuSE 10.0 - both Vendor DVD as well as SUSE-10.0-CD-OSS-i386-GM-CD1.iso. Hardware: Asus P5AD2 Premium, Pentium 4 3.2 GHz SATA: 3 discs, DVD Plextor PX-712A IDE: DVD Plextor PX-716A SCSI: Adaptec 2940 Ultra SCSI adapter, DAT+Exabyte tape USB: some hubs, HP 970cxi Printer, ext. HP DAT-72 tape, all switched off additional sound card + TV card No difference whether I run a regular install, failsafe or ACPI disabled the minikernel is loaded and starts to boot up to "searching for info file". The last kernel message is... Assertion failed! qc->flags & ATA_QCLFAG_ACTIVE,rivers/scsi/libata-core.c,ata_qc_complete,line=3218 Obviously the scsi driver is unhappy... Seems to be my specific hardware that causes the trouble. I will attach... hwinfo.txt (generated by the running SuSE 9.3) boot.msg (generated by the running SuSE 9.3) assertion.png - a screenshot (digital camera) showing the kernel messages ... at least if I manage to figure out how to attach additional info.
