Description edwin schepers 2005-10-17 20:20:07 UTC
Hi,
When installing 10.1 alpha1, I got the following :
(my fs looks like
/dev/hda1 1 784 6297448+ 7 HPFS/NTFS
/dev/hda2 785 797 104422+ 83 Linux
/dev/hda3 * 798 1689 7164990 83 Linux
/dev/hda4 1690 4864 25503187+ 5 Extended
/dev/hda5 1690 2581 7164958+ 83 Linux
/dev/hda6 2582 2645 514048+ 82 Linux swap / Solaris
/dev/hda7 2646 4864 17824086 83 Linux
)
When coming to the "Installation Summary", under Partioning it said "Format
partition /dev/hda7.
But I wanted to install on hda3, so I choose "Change..." and "Create custom
partition setup"
I select hda3 as my root partition and deselect hda7. I want nothing to happen
to hda7.
When clicking Next, I got the following message : "The current selection is
invalid. Start your selection with the highest numbered list entry." This is
already very confusing for me.
When I select hda7 and hit Next, I got the message "The selected partitions
are not contigious", but maybe this came because hda7 was still configured as
a root partition? I'm not sure now.

Playing with the expert partitioner, I noticed that when I change the options
(checkboxes) for a fs and click OK, the next time it's back in its original
state.

Can you please attach the /var/log/YaST2 directory (as a tar file)?
Please take a look at http://www.opensuse.org/Bug_Reporting_FAQ#YaST
if you have any problems.

What you want can be done in custom partitioner, not in the dialog you were
in.
In the target partitioner you can only select ranges of partitions that
YaST2 is allowed to be removed.
