Description Frank-Michael Fischer 2005-10-19 08:41:58 UTC
I can "install" my DVB-s card using YaST2. However, there are no devices (nodes)
like /dev/dvb/adapter0 created at all. Means applications cannot access these
devices (as they do not exist, just the driver modules are loaded).

This issue has nothing to do with proprietary mpeg decoding etc., because DVB
devices are plain network adapters receiving (or sometimes even sending) TCP/IP
packages.

YaST2 also does not produce an error message saying: "device could not be
created" or such.

In summary: SUSE 10.0 has no working tool like YaST2 available supporting the
use of DVD cards for whatever purpose.

read "DVB cards" instead of "DVD cards", please. Sorry.
Comment 2 Ladislav Slezák 2005-10-20 07:42:54 UTC
The configuration was saved but not activated. You can activate it manually (hwup <hwcfg_file>), it should be also activated automatically after boot.

Fixed in yast2-tv-2.13.3
