After an Update of SUSE-10.0-DVD5-BETA3 per online update KDE did not start. 
The combination of xdm/fvwm works, but neither kdm/fvwm or xdm/KDE. Please 
look at the X11 server error file:

sorry, updates from beta are not supported. You have to take some extra care in account. No idea what exactly you did, but this is for sure no KDE problem - more a yast problem. But as I said: not supported
