SuSE should always contain the latest bug fixes and stable releases.
Containing outaged releases will bring instability and security problems with it.
Current 10.0 contains Sun's Java 1.4.2 (Bugfix _06) and Java 1.5.0 (Bugfix _03).
Sun provides (since months!) 1.4.2 (Bugfix _09) and Java 1.5.0 (Bufix _09).
Is there any reason that SuSE contains outaged bug fixed and that SuSE customers
have to do additional, costly downloads to obtain the latest bug fixes?

SUSE did release a java patch... but whatch out. On my system it broke Tomcat, and IntelliJ Java IDE.

We actually try to provide the latest java versions on each release, but sometimes don't include them when they come too late in the beta stage.

For release SUSE Linux versions we only provide updates if they fix security issues.
