Description Dieter Zuleger 2005-10-23 13:02:51 UTC
My System Specs:
Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe with an Raid0-Array on onboard Controller Sil3112a.
The same applies to add-on Card Sil3114.
Booting from cd/dvd or already installed Operating System SuSE Linux 10.0
(applies also to 9.2 and 9.3 but not 9.1) causes the computer to freeze right
after insmoding the sata_sil module. The only way to boot the os is to remove
the Raid0-Array or to use another Kernel. Every (unpatched!) kernel since at
least 2.6.10 should work. By using kernel 2.6.13 I can access the Raid0-Array
with dmraid. Unfortunately, I don“t no how to capture any kernel-message if the
system freezes during this early stage of booting.

SUSE Linux 10.0 does not support boot from dmraid. 10.2 will be the first version to support that.
