Description atha v. 2005-10-29 12:27:50 UTC
I had a big problem with the Yast.Upedet and the different versions in the internet...

I try to Update my pc every two to 7 days, to maybe help yu, if I find a bug or I have an good idea how to help you to make something better (most times i think it's useless but dosen't matter ... ;o)

Maybe every 1 or 2 weeks, the internet site is changed and the repository paths are changed to. the problem is, i have to search ... When I look now (29. Oct) I find an Edge Version on GDWG (in Germany) and nowhere else. When I start the update, it is very slow (It wants really to download every package - it is near 6 GB). So I break up. I search for new repository, and find one in switzerland. There must be other packages, because it want install only 120 packages ??? And something that does me wondering is, that some packages must get downgraded ...???

I look at the packages and saw, that many packages are newer that that on repository. On the other server in Germany there were some packages updeted, they dindn't need, because there wasn't a newer Version.

So what is happen?

Can't we get a Version-Constrolling system that is not so difficult? Maybe something like apt-get or cvs? Where we can get the newest packages without burning every CD or DVD with a version and throw them after that away (I Buy extra some CD-RWs because of the Money and especialy for the environmental protection (Umweltschutz).
