This is not a problem of HAL and not using fstab-sync. This is a problem of the desktop environment (KDE and GNOME). You don't need a entry in /etc/fstab to umount a device. I don't know why they try to use the fstab for this. In fact: If you finish all write processes and stop accessing the device the ipod is automatically umounted by submountd after some seconds and you can remove the ipod without risk. If you are unsure, check /proc/mounts . *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 117945 *** Closed. |
