Description Michael Stather 2005-11-05 21:17:31 UTC
Many parameters of the network configuration can be obtained through DHCP, like the DNS servers and the IP adress. It seems this is done for the gateway though, but there is no such option. I suggest to make this consistent with the other options, e.g. add an option "get from DHCP" and only get from DHCP is this is set.

As a fact, if the field is left empty and a DHCP-server was specified this route is taken from the DHCP afaik. Maby the help text should give information about that or it should be made more transparent by adding such a button.

This is not the first report about that, but I just cannot find the first one.
Martin: Please decide.

Yeah but all the other options have a seperate "get from DHCP" option and this one has not. IMHO this is just a usability thing which makes it intuitive for the user to switch to DHCP. Not everyone reads the explaining text because in general YaST is very easy to use and self-explanatory.

I am working on a better layout.
