Description Michael Stather 2005-11-06 14:13:58 UTC
The default xine version doesn´t play DVDs and MP3. But kaffeine even complains about playing DVDs if I´ve a version with DVD support installed (available from the xine homepage) with a screen which also contains an URL of a novell page explaining the problem. I understand that the bundled xine version couldn´t have support for DVD but IMHO kaffeine shouldn´t be crippled enabling the user to install another xine version.

Kaffeine checks if the file /usr/share/xine/skins/xine-ui_logo.mpv exists which you should have if you install an uncrippled xine-lib including xine-ui.

Does kaffeine need xine-lib (if not sorry for reopening this bug)? I only install an uncrippled sine but no xine-lib as I don´t need it (and kaffeine does play mp3s well without xine-ui).AFAIK xine-ui is a GUI for xine-lib just like kaffeine is, so kaffeine shouldn´t need xine-ui.

Message box now also checks for /usr/share/doc/packages/xine/README.SuSE
