Hmm, could you try latest kotd in: ftp.suse.com/pub/people/mantel/kotd/10.0-i386/SL100_BRANCH/kernel-default.i586.rpm Please also check, whether you have upgraded to the latest BIOS. What are the latest messages in /var/log/messages ... best attach the whole /var/log/messages file zipped. Created attachment 57427 [details]

bios is latest, /var/log/messages attached
latest kotd no different Too much bugs, can you help Pavel? Does it shutdown correctly when you disable SMP? ...when you go with minimal drivers? (init=/bin/bash)? using smp kernel, on shutdown system goes down but power stays on, subsequently pressing power button has no effect. irq problems on boot with nosmp. boots ok with nosmp noapic but will not poweroff again. with acpi=off apm=off system goes down and can then poweroff with button. (1) Is there any kernel when powerdown worked? (2) Can you boot with minimum drivers (init=/bin/bash) and try if it powersdown there? (Thanks for nosmp/noapic tests. They are useful). sorry for the long delay on this. still broken with minimum drivers. power-off was ok for all suse versions from 8.0 to 9.2, broken from 9.3 onwards. last test was with 10.1 beta 9 and still broken. Can you verify if it is still problem with latest vanilla kernel, and if so submit it to bugzilla.kernel.org? Intel acpi people are there and helpful. Or you can binary-search versions and see where it broke... but difference between 9.2 and 9.3 is pretty big. (What happens if you run 9.2 kernel with config from 9.3? and vice versa?) Too long in needinfo. |
