Description Chema Ollés 2005-11-20 16:01:07 UTC
Hi:
I update from alpha2 to alpha3.
When I reboot my system I see that on /dev directory there are not created hdc (my dvd) hdd (cdrecorder) no sounds devices etc... and there too much devices with only write/read root permissions, and I have problems with consoles, kconsole, firefox,thunderbird...
Thanks

Kay, one for you.
Comment 3 Kay Sievers 2005-11-22 13:33:44 UTC
Is /usr on the root filesystem? /usr on a different partition does not work reliably for all setups at the moment, cause of missing synchronisation with the boot scripts. It will be fixed in the next days.
Comment 4 Chema Ollés 2005-11-22 15:22:16 UTC
Hi:
No,I have only 3 partition on hda:
1 for / (reiserfs)
2 for /boot (ext2)
3 for swat
I also must create lp devices...
It seems that with the new udev (dinamic, isn't it?) the things doesn't works right
cheers
Comment 5 Chema Ollés 2005-11-22 15:23:54 UTC
Sorry, the correct answer is YES,/usr is on root filesystem
Comment 6 Alexander Lavrinenko 2005-11-23 09:58:53 UTC
Same here after update A2 -> A3: X refuses to start telling 'missing core pointer', no sound, etc. My partitions are:
/dev/sda1 - windowsXP
/dev/sda2 - swap
/dev/sda3 - /
/dev/sda4 - /home
Comment 7 Kay Sievers 2005-12-26 04:54:08 UTC
This should work with the current version.
Comment 8 Chema Ollés 2005-12-28 21:02:56 UTC
I'm sorry.I update (not new install only update) to alpha4 and I found the same error.
I must create devices for mouse, sound, hdc(dvd) and hdd (cdrecorder) for example.
