Description Saulo Soares de Toledo 2005-11-24 21:34:59 UTC
Always that the system initiates, the "nameserver" in resolv.conf it's erased.
The YAST does not decide the problem, it comes back to happen.

The SUSE also does not detect the netbios names of LAN. The Conectiva (current mandriva) makes this. In SUSE, I need have the IP number.

Set in /etc/sysconfig/network/config the variable

       MODIFY_RESOLV_CONF_DYNAMICALLY

to the value "no". For dhcp specific only you may
use the variable DHCLIENT_MODIFY_RESOLV_CONF in
the config file /etc/sysconfig/network/dhcp

NetBIOS seems to belong to samba-client.

This may resolv the problem, but was a little dificult ind this solution. I still have some problems with net in SUSE, but I need more time to verify them... For this moment, I suggest to close this bug. Thanks

Can you elaborate more what you expect regarding the NetBIOS names in your comment #1?

We already try to set the wins server in /etc/samba/dhcp.conf if this is not disabled in /stc/sysconfig/dhcp:DHCLIENT_MODIFY_SMB_CONF.
