Description Stephen Mitchell 2005-11-29 16:42:55 UTC
I've installed SuSE Linux 10.0. I can't get SAX2 to change my Samsung SyncMaster 204T display resolution to 1600 x 1200. I contacted SuSE tech support by phone. I was expecting them to tell me which configuration file to enter a modeline into. Instead, they instructed me to file a bug report. Very lame.

Linux is great, but it also sucks big time. Nothing works as expected, something is always broken, and finding information is a nightmare. Google finds emails from people with the same problems, but there are never solutions, or they point to configuration files that don't exist or HOW-TO's that don't apply.

The sad thing is that I paid real money for this distribution. You'd think that would cover the cost of testing monitor support. Instead I get a call center guy with no clue.

Maybe FC4 will work better.

Could you attach /etc/X11/xorg.conf and /var/log/Xorg.0.log? Thanks.

No feedback --> WONTFIX.
