i installed a KDE desktop, and later on installed "banshee".

banshee does not start but says
AudioCdPlayer Engine not installed.

I think it is is missing some gstreamer requirement. 

(i use the 10.0 version, might be fixed already.)

Gary, can you look at this, or confirm that it's fixed?

Yes, this is fixed in STABLE.
