Description Werner Lemberg 2005-12-05 08:00:33 UTC
There are many bug reports w.r.t. parallel printer problems, but none
mentions the conflict with the hplit package.

In my case, I configured both a Lexmark Z32 (which has been successfully
recognized by YaST), and an old Apple LaserWriter Select (manually), and
printing didn't work. After removing the hplit package, printing was
just fine. This happened with the 10.0 final release.

Parallel port printers work well for us (when the parallel port is
not in ECP/DMA mode - see our release notes) with the hplip package
installed (I guess your "hplit" is a typo and you mean "hplip").
I.e. there is no conflict with hplip and the parallel port
but there is a kernel problem with the parallel port in ECP/DMA mode,
see our release notes and for more information see for example
