Description Chad Groneman 2005-12-07 06:24:39 UTC
On x86-64 (not sure if other architectures), the xen kernel is not on the CDs, but other xen packages are. I don't know if it's on the DVD or not. If the xen kernel is not on the CDs, it is useless to provide the other xen packages.

Preferrably we can make the kernel-xen package fit on the CDs.

Are we talking about the OSS version or the retail version? AFAIK the Xen-Kernel includes some non-GPL parts and was therefore not shipped with the OSS version.
Comment 2 Chad Groneman 2005-12-07 15:10:08 UTC
Looks like I am using OSS version. I thought xen was GPL.

That being the case, why include the other Xen packages, since they're useless without xen-kernel?

Comment 3 Michael Gross 2005-12-07 15:24:35 UTC
Sorry I was not quite right here. The Xen-Kernel contains only GPL-software... and was therefore dismissed out of capacity reasons -- only for the x86-64 version as it seems.

Anyway, it makes not much sense that way.
Ruediger: Could we either add the Xen-Kernel to the CD or remove the tools package as well?
Comment 4 Ruediger Oertel 2005-12-12 13:43:10 UTC
no, the package simply did not build before (for various reasons hitting
one by one). Looks like finally there is a built current kernel-xen on x86_64
to there are good chances for 10.1 Alpha4.
