Description Walter Haidinger 2005-12-10 16:15:24 UTC
Hi!

Despite SuSE 10 comes with LILO 22.7 and additional patches
(checked lilo-22.7-7.src.rpm), the device-mapper patch is still missing.

Because of this, lilo cannot boot from device-mapper targets,
i.e. root on LVM.

There is already a patch available from Christophe Saout (dm-crypt):
http://www.saout.de/misc/lilo-22.6.1-devmapper.patch

Thanks, Walter

AFAIK Hubert isn't back yet. Please could anyone apply and test
this patch?
Comment 2 Christoph Thiel 2008-04-17 13:23:03 UTC
Reassign to lilo maintainer.
Comment 4 Olaf Hering 2008-10-14 06:37:25 UTC
grub can boot or can not boot from device-mapper, no idea.
Use an extra /boot partition.
Our config tools do suggest an extra /boot, and they default to an extra /boot partition.

And lilo 22.8 as shipped with SLES11 has a version of this patch already.
