Description Heiko Schmidt 2005-12-16 09:43:45 UTC
Hello

I seted up a working network with a fritz box 7050 wlan-router and SuSE10.0 X68_64 on a laptop and everything was fine. Suddenly (after booting the computer) network was broken.
My computer don´t get an IP from DHCP-Server of the router.
With other OS (Knoppix,Windows XP) on the same mschine everything is working fine.
If use KDE-Networktools (ping, traceroute, finger aso.)even my eth0 isn´t shown. Ifconfig -a shows me my eth0 but without any IP.
Switching eth0 to an IP out of the IP-range and setting up a standard-gateway manually doesn´t help.

Same happens on a tower with SuSE10.0 X68.

May ypu help me ?

Sorry but I don´t think it´s a problem, cause I verified that communication is working with same hardware but other OS.
I think the dhcp-client has a bug.
I wote to /etc/sysconfig it should log in /var/log/messages about any problems, but it doesn´t, so it seems to be not working at all.
I´m sorry for telling you it´s SuSE10.0 cause it´s openSuSE in Version 10.0.
Comment 7 Dr. Werner Fink 2005-12-16 12:46:28 UTC
Nevertheless IMHO this is a configuration problem and NOT a bug.
After eth0 e.g. is the onboard ethernet chip and not the WLAN
card anymore. Please do not fill the Bugzilla line with support
questions.
