Description dante bly 2005-12-18 06:29:19 UTC
At the beginning of installation in Alpha 4 (with penquins walking around) I chose "installation". The linux kernel loads but then the screen goes blank. At this point, nothing can be done except rebooting.

I've also tried to install 10.1 alpha 3 on this laptop. With alpha 3, it detects the hardware but then gives the error message:

"Can not find CD. Will go to manual installation"

Manual install is then possible.

I have the same issue on Thinkpad T series notebook. Only way to bypass is to chose acpi=off install option.

Fails to boot after install unless acpi=off specified as kernel parameter as well.

Could you please run hwinfo and attach the output to this bug report?
Thanks!

does acpi=off fix the D610?
Which Thinkpad fails?
Is this true still in SL10.1 Beta1?

I no longer have the alpha 4 cds. However, I have tried 10.1 beta 1 on the Dell D610 and there are no problems with installation.
