My company provides YOU patches on an FTP server in its INTRAnet, to which a couple of Linux computers (administered by me) are connected.

They don't have access to the INTERnet, though (and won't ever get).

When I run YOU, it tries to query for mirror servers until it times out (after about 10 minutes).

Only then can I enter the URL of our intranet server and download patches.

Whenever I run YOU, I must wait for the timeout to pass and enter the URL anew. Perhaps a write to the server list fails because the initial download of the server list has failed, so there is none?

This is quite annoying when using the GUI and (even worse) makes it impossible to use the automated update.

I observed this behaviour with SuSE 9.3 and 10.0.

Please restore the behaviour of SuSE 8.2, where the query for mirrors is done only on request, and where YOU did not forget any URL entered.

set YAST2_LOADFTPSERVER="no" in /etc/sysconfig/onlineupdate

btw, this sounds more like a support request instead of a bug report ...

I admit that it can be viewed as a support request. It is perhaps a matter of perspective.

On the other hand, it might be considered a bug that it is not possible to configure the behaviour of a GUI application in the GUI itself (or rather that it is only *partially* possible, which looks a bit inconsistent).
