Description Marcus Meissner 2005-12-29 18:59:52 UTC
almost all people I know use the kweather applet in the kicker.

it comes from kdetoys3 which is not default installed.

perhaps it should be moved into another package, or kdetoys installed by default...

(one useful gimmick ;)

Hmm, what about just looking out of the window? ;-)
Comment 2 Rasmus Plewe 2006-01-02 14:13:11 UTC
Outside of the window is another window, the desktop background or the border of the monitor. How exactly would that help?
Comment 3 Dirk Mueller 2006-01-02 14:40:54 UTC
I'm not sure. I would tend to object to installing it by default, but not to packaging it separately. Currently its probably way too difficult to find.

*ROTFL*

I guess it's unnecesarry to mention that I was talking about the window that is embedded in your house's wall, is it? ;-)

In other words: look out of a window that
- is at least 60x80 cm in size
- can be opened without using a mouse or a keyboard
- can _not_ be moved using your mouse
- does not disappear if you switch your computer off

If these preconditions are fulfilled, you will see the weather ;-))
Comment 5 Dirk Mueller 2006-01-04 15:21:12 UTC
do you use it at all? not even nuernberg seems to work in it..

Comment 6 Marcus Meissner 2006-01-04 15:23:05 UTC
yes, it works in 10.0.... sometimes the applet needs restarting to make the choice active :(
Comment 7 Rasmus Plewe 2006-01-04 15:37:53 UTC
I'm using it in both panel (since 2000) and kontact (since 2004) to be able to monitor several sites at once. No problems (at least nothing you would consider a problem after any length of time exposed to a korganizer/SLOX/groupwise combination...).
Comment 8 Stephan Kulow 2006-01-09 17:15:21 UTC
Rasmus: I told you about 4 years ago, that you are _not_ a typical user. This hasn't changed I guess, so it would be a contra indicator ;)

kdetoys would polute the menu with too much stuff like amor and kodo - I'm against installing it by default. But I updated the description of kdetoys3, so that people find kweather that look for it.
