Description Hans Höök 2006-01-14 13:18:46 UTC
I insatalled SuSE Linux 10.0 32-bit version (from the box) on an AMD K7 (Athlon 2,7+) /SiS chipset box.
(Asus A7S8X-MX Motherboard.)
I have a SATA HD that was identified correctly.
(Samsung 80 GB)

Everything workded correctly out of the box.
After online update 20060114 (including kernel) when the boot procedure was trying to find partions 2 (swap) and 3 (/) it did not find anything and dropt out into $ prompt.

After "upgrading" everything to the original DVD everything is now fine again..
Probably the SIS 964 SATA driver is probably broken in this version.

Regards

Hans Höök

Could you please attach the hwinfo output from the working kernel to this bugzilla, as well as the boot logs of the new kernel?

Created attachment 64321 [details]
output from hwinfo

The new kernel did not get very far - I do not have a log.
It gave me the $ promt after stating that it
was wating for /dev/sda2 (which is swap) and /dev/sda3 (which is root)to emerge (which never happended).

Jens, please take a look.

Reopen for 10.1 if it's still buggy.
