I was unable to locate who the maintainer is for Blender that comes packaged with each SUSE Linux release. As such requesting Novell contact the maintainer to update the version listed on the YAST source mirrors Blender-2.37a to the current release from Blender.org which is Blender-2.40. Besides resolving various bugs the current release offers new tools such as fluid effects and hair which are useful for freelancers and studios.

We will not do such an update for 10.0.  We only fix security bugs and critical bugs for released products.

For 10.1 this update should happen and was not done yet - thanks for the info.  Pavel, please do the update.
