I enabled "restore manually saved session" in the session manager, saved the session, logged out, rebooted, logged in. After login, I saw that some things were broken (panel was vanilla, defined key shortcuts had vanished), so I changed some details on the panel, saved the session, logged out and back in. This time the changes to the panel were restored. Akregator is part of the saved session.

I now discovered that the file .kde2/share/apps/konqueror/bookmarks.xml which had previously contained my bookmarks, now containes something looking like broken xml code with some kind of akregator history. I will attach the bookmark.xml file to this bug.

Now: how is it possible for the bookmark file to get overwritten? I guess I don't have to elaborate on the impact of destroying this kind of external human memory...

OK, this seems to have been a rather strange one-off. I'd like to close it to tidy up my bugzilla list, feel free to reopen if you think there's anything that can be done about this...
