I just tried diffrent versions of Wine on SuSE Linux 10. 

I appeared that all windows programs which runs on wine don't sees the german umlauts (öäü) key events. I had a similar problem with X itself after a Yast Online Update. At this time, only a downgrade the xorg of SuSE 9.3 helped to get rid of the problem. Can somebody PLEASE try to make some debuging sessions about this problem?

can you try the builtin "notepad".

I am able to enter umlauts there. :/
