Did you do a completely new install? Where is the file you are looking for located? yes, completely new install. I searched for "test" ;) and "passwd" and "txt", IIRC. How much data do you have and how long did you wait for it to index. Note that the searching from the main menu is borked in beta 1, so if its simply a case of not showing up, thats known. okay, calling gnome-search-tool manually works fine.
