On http://en.opensuse.org/Category:Teams and any other Category:* page I see lots of whitespace - the pages list starts _below_ the left menu.

This problem is rather new IIRC - did you change the HTML templates with yesterday's wiki update?

I'll attach a screenshot from Konqueror - but the problem is reproducable in Firefox also.

yes, we are aware of that. I was first seen yesterday when we updated the wikis, but was no showstopper for us. 

We are on it.

This seems to pop up every time we change the Wiki version. There is a <br style="clear:both"/> that needs to be removed from the Categories template. Also see #106250 and #112933.

hmm i think we better solve our skin instead of patching the original wiki source again and again.

we came to the conclussion that at long term we will fix the skin but for now we will disable the <br /> in the category page template.

Frank your turn. i will commit the fix into the staging branch.

Is this a Novell skin bug or a Mediawiki one? if it comes from mediawiki I can make a bug report there

Thanks for the offer, but it's our custom skin. It's a floating issue that causes the large whitespace.
I will replace our custom skin with an adapted MediWiki skin in March/April so this issue hopefully won't come up again with the next update.

I don't want really to reopen the bug I have a problem that seems related, but not identical. See here:

the right table is covered by the footer (in some way, the opposite of the bug)
can you look if the patch resolves also this?
