I have composite effects enabled in KDE which seem realy stable. I tried applications for a few hours and had no crash.

The only thing which is wrong:

If you switch to another virtual desktop or choose another running application in task bar - the application which gets the focus and gets active stays sometimes translucent.

Sometimes it gets opaque when moving around or resizing the window.

Translucency in KDE using composition managed is considered to be an experimental feature. Please report your problem upstream if it's not reported yet.
