Description Chad Groneman 2006-02-03 01:55:10 UTC
Currently, if you go to runlevel 3 from a GUI session (in init 5), it takes you to the system start animation (like the one from NLD with the rotating cirle thing). It should clear the animation and put you at a login prompt.

At a minimum, the graphic should say "Press F2 for details" or something like that, so people don't just watch it forever. Granted, any user going into level 3 this way *should* know what they're doing, but still....

Steps to duplicate:
1. Have runlevel 5 be default runlevel.
2. Log in to KDE, Gnome, FVWM, whatever.
3. Launch konsole, gnome terminal, or any other X terminal.
4. (If necessary) su to root.
5. init 3 from within the x terminal logged in as root.
6. Watch the pretty circles rotate until you're smart enough to push F2.

This one could be a duplicate of bug #150340

What happens if you press Ctrl-Alt-F1? Do you see the bootsplash too?
Comment 3 Chad Groneman 2006-02-20 15:04:48 UTC
Yes, these bugs appear to be the same issue.
Comment 4 Christian Boltz 2006-02-20 20:14:48 UTC
OK, then I would name it a duplicate ;-)
