Description Jan Karjalainen 2006-02-03 10:10:10 UTC
I did a clean default KDE installation of Beta 3, and after everything was setup and running, I decided to install "Kernel Development" and "C/C++ Compiler and Tools" from "Selections" in Yast Software Management.
When the installation begins, it asks for the cd's in the following order:

CD1 - CD2 - CD1 - CD2 - CD3 - CD4 - CD5 - CD3

Lars, any ideas?

One is enough. I must check the package order on CD and the dependencies of each package in the selections "Kernel Development" and "C/C++ Compiler and Tools". Should take some time - but hopefully I can fix it with GM ;-)

I've changed a lot for Beta4 - but probably didn't have the time to test the above installation. So please test it with Beta4 again and report your results here => set to needinfo.

Using beta8 yesterday I did a similar thing. I did a clean install with KDE, and afterwards added 'C/C++ Compiler and Tools', the kernel source and symbols, and was asked for CDs in this order:

1 - 2 - 1 - 3 - 4 - 5 - 1

Also, after CD2 it updated the progress to say it was done with CD1, but then didn't update anything else on the way through until it was done.

Bug #155723 seems to apply to me too - it wouldn't let me eject the CDs without using the command line.
Comment 6 Lars Vogdt 2006-03-23 12:17:45 UTC
Ok. Please attach the output of "rpm -qa" and the y2log.

1) open a console and enter "rpm -qa > rpmlist.txt" - attach the file "rpmlist.txt" here in bugzilla
2) and also attach the file /var/log/YaST2/y2log, please.

So I can have a look at the installed packages and what's going wrong during installation.

There hasn't been any progress on this bug for a month now --> what's the status?

I'v done numerous CD installations last week (with test builds and RC1/RC2) and didn't run into this kind of CD changing orgy.
Comment 8 Lars Vogdt 2006-04-27 21:17:32 UTC
as this bug confirmed to Beta 3 - and we are already in RC3 phase without any feedback I close this as fixed. Feel free to reopen if the problem still exists. Please remember to attach the files as described in comment #6
