Description Jens Herden 2006-02-03 14:01:16 UTC
If I manually select my packages during installation I have an option to filter by language. Unfortunately Khmer is not in the list, even though I can select it as UI language during installation.
Comment 1 Jiri Srain 2006-02-19 22:48:39 UTC
Stefan, Martin, please, check the package selector for both Qt and NCurses
Comment 2 Martin Vidner 2006-02-20 09:33:55 UTC
I think that it is not an issue with the UI but rather the package set for Khmer is simply not defined.
Jens, please have a look at CD1/suse/setup/descr/*.sel and send us the list of packages that should be installed for Khmer in the various selections (Minimal Graphic, KDE, GNOME etc.)
Comment 3 Stefan Hundhammer 2006-02-20 10:35:57 UTC
Why do I get this now? This is not a UI bug, if it is a bug at all.

The languages displayed in the package selector are those for which there are dedicated language-specific packages. If Khmer doesn't appear there, there are not Khmer-specific packages on the distribution - which honestly doesn't amaze me very much considering that a few weeks ago we had zero language support for Khmer.

If one day there might be Khmer-specific packages, Khmer will appear in that list. We do not enumerate all possible languages there just for the fun of it.
Comment 4 Jens Herden 2006-02-20 14:20:10 UTC
@Stefan:
Obviously Suse Linux is developing faster than you know ;-)
There are three packages related to Khmer already! Fonts, Yast translation and KDE translation.

So I reopen this bug.

@Martin:

Thanks for the pointer to the package selections. Since I am an outsider I was not aware of this. I did look at it and I found that there is already one package mentioned, the font package in X11-10.1-2.noarch.sel. Unfortunately this package is not yet on the media :-(
See here for a bug about this missing package:
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=148207

For the other two packages I suggest, just like the equivalent packages for other languages, this:

Kde-Desktop-10.1-2.noarch.sel:

  +Ins.km:
  kde3-i18n-km
  -Ins.km:

Min-10.1-2.noarch.sel:

  +Ins.km:
  yast2-trans-km
  -Ins.km:
Comment 5 Martin Vidner 2006-02-20 14:26:10 UTC
Good. Another Stefan, please apply the changes in the selection packages.
Comment 6 Jens Herden 2006-02-20 14:32:35 UTC
Oh sorry, I think I forgot one. There is Fonts-10.1-2.noarch.sel which should get all font related packages, right. So there the package KhmerOS-fonts needs to get added.
Comment 7 Stefan Dirsch 2006-02-20 17:07:46 UTC
fixed in selections, but probably the packages are also missing on the media.
Comment 8 Jens Herden 2006-02-20 17:30:45 UTC
No, yast and kde translations are already on the media. Only the fonts are missing, but the bug for this is mentioned in comment #4.
If fixing the selections adds Khmer to the list of languages I think this bug can get closed.
I will check beta5 for this anyway.
Comment 9 Ruediger Oertel 2006-02-21 01:25:23 UTC
ok, selections changed, KhmerOS-fonts added to cd-config.
Comment 10 Jens Herden 2006-03-07 02:56:29 UTC
I tested beta6 and the result is almost fine. Selecting Khmer does install all packages that are needed :-)

But there is the small issue that the package KhmerOS-fonts is still not in Fonts-10.1-2.noarch.sel and therefore not listed when I choose the font selection in Yast.

I open the bug again because of this.
Comment 11 Ruediger Oertel 2006-03-14 13:36:06 UTC
Stefan: can you add this package to the Fonts selection (and finally close
this bug ?)
Comment 12 Stefan Dirsch 2006-03-14 13:39:57 UTC
fixed for Beta > 8.
