Marcus, could you please disable Composite for the "ati" driver in general? Thanks. Composite is now disabled |
that 2*2 core opteron server box as a onboard ATI Rage XL which feels quite slow even with simple 2D window moves etc with SUSE 10.0, but now in 10.1-beta2 I get opaque window move rates from ~1-3 "moves" (jumpes) per second for a plain small xterm !! X11 is hardly useable at all at this speed -- my old 486 with ET4000 very likely was faster (not joking, really!). reason for that further slowdown from 10.0 to 10.1 is the following section in xorg.conf Section "Extensions" Option "Composite" "on" EndSection switching that option to "off" made the X11 performace like that from 10.0 (not really good, but at least usable).
