Description Silviu Marin-Caea 2006-02-07 15:45:57 UTC
If I click on a .doc or .xls attachment in kmail, it pops up a dialog asking me what to do with it. I chose "open with OO.o". OO.o is loaded but displays and empty page. It's because the attachment was not saved properly on disk in /tmp/kde-user... It was saved as a 0 size file. If that happened, no mater how many times I try to open it, it's the same. Restarting kontact solves the problem.
Comment 1 Stephan Kulow 2006-02-07 15:53:55 UTC
The very popular --tempfile option is missing
Comment 2 Jan Holesovsky 2006-02-09 14:48:41 UTC
I am sorry, but I am unable to reproduce the problem :-(

"Restarting kontact solves the problem." - does this mean that you saw the bug only once? Or - does it appear with every re-login, for example?

Is it a clean user installation, or do you use the profile from an older SUSE version?

kioexec's --tempfiles option is used (according to my tests), and I am able to see the attachment every time (fresh OOo start, OOo already runnnig, etc.)
Comment 3 Silviu Marin-Caea 2006-02-09 15:13:07 UTC
Clean installation (always). I saw the bug several times. But it's not consistently showing up. That is: sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

When it doesn't work, it's because the temp file is 0 size. I restart Kontact, look at the same mail, and opening the attachment by clicking it works again.

I realize that erratic bugs are the worst. Will update here if I see the bug in >beta4.

What if this kind of crashes were provoked by the font problems? Will keep you updated after beta4 comes out. I'm using beta3+newest fontconfig now, and konqueror seems more stable.

Ops, wrong window
Comment 6 Christian Boltz 2006-02-09 16:26:15 UTC
Silviu, it seems you forgot to set the bug back to ASSIGNED...
Comment 7 Silviu Marin-Caea 2006-02-28 10:07:26 UTC
Bug still there in beta5
Comment 8 Gerald Pfeifer 2006-04-20 22:18:48 UTC
Jan, what's the status of this? I haven't seen an update for two months.

Are you still not able to reproduce?
Comment 9 Gerald Pfeifer 2006-04-29 00:16:34 UTC
Ping, how to proceed with this one?
Comment 10 Jan Holesovsky 2006-05-09 20:10:41 UTC
I am sorry, but I'm still unable to reproduce :-(

Silviu, does it happen more often with large files, small ones, or it does not matter? Is it more probable after a fresh login, or appears anytime during the work? Is it a fast computer, or a slower one?
Comment 11 Silviu Marin-Caea 2006-11-02 15:34:42 UTC
Bug is not present in 10.2beta1.
