please provide hwinfo --modem lsmod /etc/sysconfig/network/ifcfg-modem* how do you tested the speed? Multiple times we have noticed that download speed of web pages, etc. using the USB dialup modem was noticeably very slow. When we look at Data Rate in kinternet, it is less that 1/3 of normal. please provide the information i asked for, thanks g:/home/joel # hwinfo --modem

We noticed the speed looked wrong for the USB modem so we changed the Baud Rate to 115200 & it seems to be downloading at normal speed now. You don't see the speed during normal setup because it is in details. OK, this seems to be a configuration problem. At first: Disable the first (internal) modem, which looks like a onboard-modem (the Hewlett-Packard Company Modem) if it is not in use. You can use YaST for this. Then set the line SPEED='12000000' in /etc/sysconfig/network/ifcfg-modem0 to SPEED='57600' which should solve the problem. Please attach the YaST logfiles in /var/log/YaST2/ Created attachment 67384 [details]

Joel: Did the manual fix in comment #6 work? Michael: Please fix the modem module for this model. erm... Martin of course ;) Fixed in SVN for yast2-network-2.13.29: if (speed == 12000000) speed = 57600; |
