Description Steffen Winterfeldt 2006-02-09 11:52:11 UTC
We still don't have any decision on the boot loader theme.

Anna, I'm assigning it to you as you did some coordination work. Feel
free to involve the one who really has to do the work. :-)
Comment 1 Anna Dirks 2006-02-09 15:44:45 UTC
https://svn.innerweb.novell.com/svn/pdes/branches/SUSE10.1/grub/

We have prepared this grub theme. Due to the severe filesize constraints, it is very hard to avoid seeing at least some nasty jpeg artifacts.

Is this sufficient? Can you either provide assistance packaging this, or let us know definitively what package it should go into?

Thanks!

Comment 2 Steffen Winterfeldt 2006-02-09 17:07:49 UTC
I will integrate it, don't worry.

There are some issues, though:

- How should 'startup options' work? Maybe you could make a sample with some
  options shown.
- What is that footprint at the right end of the menu bar?
- Any timeout counters?
Comment 3 Jakub Steiner 2006-02-10 16:03:47 UTC
"Startup Options" is a title of the whole menu screen. It is supposed to convey that the user is able to choose an operating system to boot.

The "footprint" is not a foorprint, but a clock timer. Complete animation is available here: https://svn.innerweb.novell.com/svn/pdes/branches/SUSE10.1/grub/theme/timer.png. When the screen shows up, the timer shows a full circle and then loses "dots" clockwise.
Comment 4 Steffen Winterfeldt 2006-02-10 16:35:34 UTC
Ah, thanks.

Is there anything I should do with linuxrc.png?
Comment 5 Anna Dirks 2006-02-22 18:51:19 UTC
Ping - should this still be open? Still assigned to me? Jimmac, did you address Steffen's question above about linuxrc.png?

Comment 6 Jakub Steiner 2006-02-22 20:48:25 UTC
linuxrc.png was meant for the cd bootup welcome message. The artwork now lives in https://svn.innerweb.novell.com/svn/pdes/branches/SUSE10.1/cdboot/

I'm not exactly sure how this isolinux thing works, but I've prepared these bits:

pre-welsome.png - background for the welcome screen
welcome.png - welcome screen after all the welcome messages show up
menu.png - background for the installation type menu.
Comment 7 Steffen Winterfeldt 2006-02-23 10:37:35 UTC
Ok, thanks. That's something to work with. I'll put it together after FOSDEM.

Right now you can _tell_ me how you want it to work. If nobody speaks up
it'll work similar to 10.0.
Comment 8 Jakub Steiner 2006-02-23 14:50:57 UTC
While this is an ideal rendition and I know things like that may not be possible, it's something to aim to be like:

Comment 9 Steffen Winterfeldt 2006-02-23 15:25:42 UTC
Thanks, I'll give it some thoughts.
Comment 10 Steffen Winterfeldt 2006-02-28 11:52:24 UTC
Sorry, I just noticed the pictures are all 640x480. But I need them
with 800x600. Could you please create larger versions? Thanks.
(menu.xcf & welcome.xcf)
Comment 11 Steffen Winterfeldt 2006-02-28 16:44:06 UTC
I couldn't find the NLD/SLES10 boot loader pictures (would be mustard
colored, I guess). Again, I would need menu.xcf & welcome.xcf in 800x600.
Comment 12 Jakub Steiner 2006-03-03 18:31:21 UTC
hmm, bugzilla doesn't seem to mail me for some reason.
Comment 13 Jakub Steiner 2006-03-03 18:31:41 UTC
I'll add the 800x600 versions asap
Comment 15 Anna Dirks 2006-03-20 18:27:20 UTC
Why is this assigned to me? Steffen, I am making this 'needinfo' for you right now. Is there stuff you still need from my team? If not, this bug should be reassigned/closed.
Comment 16 Steffen Winterfeldt 2006-03-21 10:24:20 UTC
Sure. This can be closed.
