Description S3WL S#WL 2006-02-09 14:14:34 UTC
I have OpenSuSE 10.1 Beta 2 installed on 2 completely different boxes. One box is an old e-Machine who CD reader has been replaced by a later edition disc CR read/writer computer was originally Win 98 box. The Second box I built is 800 MHz Athelon on MSI motherboard with DVD multi RW. All equipment is over 5 years old. Both boxes have had 10 or 15 different distributions of Linux installed in them.

Neither box will install 10.1 Beta 3.

Both boxes on either installation or upgrade get to the point of checking media and produce error message:

No Valid installation media.
Error: No proposal

A check of the Registered Catalog shows that it is blank.

Thanks

SOTL

One thing for clarity: The distribution's name is still SUSE Linux, openSUSE is just the project.

Sorry, but you will have to be much more verbose if we should help. We need more information about the used hardware, can be generated by using the tool `hwinfo' (specially hwinfo --cdrom) which can also be used when booting into a rescue system from CD1.

Then we must know from which medium you're trying to install from and if a try to manuall choose and add a medium fails. Furthermore we require the YaST logfiles located in /var/log/YaST2 of the failed installation which can also be obtained from a shell within the installation system.

Closing old LATER+REMIND bugs as WONTFIX - if you still plan to work on it, feel free to reopen and set to ASSIGNED.

In case the report saw repeated reopen comments, it's due to bugzilla timing out on the huge request ;(
