For SUSE Linux, please use Product SUSE Linux X.X, openSUSE is for the wiki at openSUSE only. Please attach `hwinfo --sound'. What did you do to configure your card, which driver was suggested (...), please be more verbose. Please reopen this report once you can provide the information asked for. (In reply to comment #2) > Please reopen this report once you can provide the information asked for. The hwinfo output is: 12: PCI 1b.0: 0403 Multimedia controller [Created at pci.277] UDI: /org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/pci_8086_27d8 Unique ID: u1Nb.3CqPijR+eOE SysFS ID: /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1b.0 SysFS BusID: 0000:00:1b.0 Hardware Class: sound Model: "Intel 82801G (ICH7 Family) High Definition Audio Controller" Vendor: pci 0x8086 "Intel Corporation" Device: pci 0x27d8 "82801G (ICH7 Family) High Definition Audio Controller" SubVendor: pci 0x8086 "Intel Corporation" SubDevice: pci 0x0202 Revision: 0x01 Driver: "HDA Intel" Memory Range: 0x501c0000-0x501c3fff (rw,non-prefetchable) IRQ: 50 (113 events) Module Alias: "pci:v00008086d000027D8sv00008086sd00000202bc04sc03i00" Driver Info #0: Driver Status: snd_hda_intel is active Driver Activation Cmd: "modprobe snd_hda_intel" Config Status: cfg=yes, avail=yes, need=no, active=unknown (In reply to comment #2) > Please reopen this report once you can provide the information asked for. The audio device is a Realtek ALC861 A patch for ALSA has been submitted to ALSA and will appear in ALSA 1.0.11rc4. I would like to suggest that OpenSuse consider downloading and including ALSA 1.0.11rc4 or later when it becomes available. This should solve this problem as well as the audio problem on the Intel D945 Chipset based systems. I am going to re-open this bug pending arrival of ALSA 1.0.11rc4 I am not sure if this is the right move, but do I re-open this bug pending arrival of ALSA 1.0.11rc4 from alsa-project.org (which is supposed to have the patch required to fix this problem)? If not, what state do I put this bug in if we are awaiting something from an upstream source? Let's ask Takashi. SUSE 10.1 is (almost) identical with ALSA 1.0.11rc3 + latest CVS fixes. To be more precise: alsa-drivers = identical with the latest CVS alsa-lib = a new simple_pcm API is missing, but others are same as CVS alsa-utils = identical with latest CVS alsa-tools = identical with latest CVS alsa-plugins = 1.0.10 + misc fixes Anyway HD-audio bugs should be fixed, at least for ALC* codecs. Try beta6 or later. |
