Description Takashi Iwai 2006-02-13 17:35:49 UTC
The automatic CD-playback via kaffeine doesn't work.

When you insert an audio CD, KDE asks you a playback method. Choosing kaffeine then gives you an error dialog, indicating an invalid device path. It seems that the kaffeine is invoked with "-d system:/media/hda AudioCD".
If you start like "kaffeine -d /dev/cdrom AudioCD", it works fine.

Comment 3 Stefan Ziegler 2006-05-16 08:58:27 UTC
Kaffeine crashes when attempting to play an audio CD. Sometimes before the crash, 0.5 seconds of music is heard. Crashes even when invoked with "kaffeine -d /dev/cdrom AudioCD"

Both versions crash: the one supplied with SUSE Linux 10.1, and the one installed from packman. The KDE crash handler reports segmentation violation.

Also, as usual, kscd does not work - starts playing, but does not produce any sound, and the menu items to set the digital playback settings are not highlighted.

please don't reopen random bug reports with different problems. You want to report your problem at http://bugs.kde.org anyway - especially as you say it doesn't work with pacman packages either. It works fine for me btw, but the author will be able to tell.
