Description Ryan Ramsey 2006-02-13 21:42:03 UTC
I am hoping that someone could look at Josh Green's asus_acpi patch. This patch adds support for the Asus Z71V(Identified as M7V). The patch adds functionality for the ambient light sensor switch, as well as keeping my logs from filling up with errors like this:

Feb 10 03:53:03 linux klogd: Asus ACPI: Error reading LCD status

Josh's page can be found here:
http://resonance.org/~josh/laptop.html

The current version of the patch is here:
http://resonance.org/~josh/asus_acpi_M7V-2.6.14-v3.patch

The ec_burst setting is required with this hardware also. Setting ec_burst=1 from the command line allows most of the buttons to function.

Realtek ACL880 sound card headphone port issue fixed in this verison. Thanks!

Also, this system has a Conexant HD Audio softmodem that is not recognized via lspci. This device shows up fine in Windows. Maybe there are some boot time settings I can give the machine to make it show up?

Is this version of the patch accepted by the upstream kernel.org developers
yet?

Please open a new bug for the audio issue.

No there is not, at least not that I can find. There is a bug filed for a similar "LCD status" error, but for other hardware. Please see this bug:
http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=4695

I only found one bug with the same hardware, and it was because of a sleep issue.
Note that Suspend-to-disk and Suspend-to-ram worked in Beta1 on this laptop, but do not work in Beta 3. I will post a seperate bug on this.

If the patch is not supported upstream, we will not merge it, sorry.
