I installed a few multimedia things; the Win32 codecs, Real Player, Flash, Xine, Mplayer, etc etc via my YaST2 and now it will not load. I don't know if the installation has anything to do with it but it worked fine before then.

It should be noted that all the RPM packages were for Suse 10.0 but I don't think that has anything to do with it.

When I go to my Yast and enter my root password, the computer just runs and runs and goes nowhere, stopping after a while.

Here's my system specs, if that is any help:
P4 3.22
1 GIG RAM
Asus P5P800 Motherboard
ATI 8500 Video Card
80 GIG Seagate SATA HDD.

have you checked this:

 If X applications crash, update the the fontconfig RPMs that are available from [1] Bug #147292.
---
you can first try to delete /root/.fonts.cache-2

If this will not help, please reopen the bug and attach /var/log/YaST2/*
