After a New Installation (and media check) with SUSE-10.1-CD-OSS-i386-Beta3-CDn.iso on my Dell Dimension PC
I encountered the following problem:
After entering Yast to do volume adjustment in Hardware->Sound->Other it is impossible to reenter Yast again.
After giving the root password there is a ~4sec CPU activity and then it drops to 0.
Restarting the PC does not solve the problem.
I can only solve the problem by doing an Installation->Update from CD1.
During the update it also asks for CD4 and 5 to install OpenOffice.org-Quickstarter, kdegames3-card and kdegraphics3-extra.
During the New Installation it did not ask for CD4 and 5.
I have repeated this test 3 times and all with the same result.

Have you fixed the fontconfig bug for beta3?
Packages available at: http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/SL-10.1-OSS-beta3/fixed-rpms
Also delete your ~/.font-cache* files.

Please reopen this bug if the problem resides after the update.
